How does GutSync track FODMAP compounds?

GutSync tracks individual FODMAP compounds (fructans, lactose, fructose, GOS, and polyols) for each food in your meals. The dashboard shows your daily totals against recommended limits, helping you stay within safe thresholds and avoid FODMAP stacking.

Is my health data uploaded to the cloud?

No. All your food logs, symptoms, and health data are stored locally on your device in a secure database. The only network calls are for AI food analysis, which goes through a secure proxy that does not store any personal information.

How does the AI food analysis work?

When you use the AI assistant, your food description or photo is sent to a secure server for analysis. The AI returns detailed nutritional information including FODMAP compounds, histamine levels, and other relevant data. The server does not store your data after the analysis is complete.

What are food tolerance statuses?

Foods in GutSync are categorized as Safe (well-tolerated), Watch (may cause issues in larger amounts), or Avoid (known to trigger symptoms). You can set these based on your personal experience, and the Foods tab lets you filter by status.

How do food reintroduction challenges work?

Challenges guide you through systematically reintroducing foods you've been avoiding. Each challenge follows a structured protocol with specific portions over several days, allowing you to track your body's response and determine your true tolerance level.

Does GutSync work with Apple Health?

Yes. GutSync can read nutrition, meal, and health data from Apple Health, and write meal and nutrition data back. You control exactly which data types are shared through iOS privacy settings.
