Frequently Asked Questions
How does Correlate access my health data?
Correlate uses Apple HealthKit to read your health metrics. When you first launch the app, you'll be asked to grant permission for the specific data types you want to analyze. You can change these permissions anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
Is my health data uploaded to the cloud?
No. All analysis happens locally on your device. Your health data never leaves your phone. We designed Correlate this way because health data is extremely personal and deserves the highest level of privacy protection.
What does "statistically significant" mean?
When Correlate says a correlation is statistically significant, it means the pattern is unlikely to be due to random chance. We use standard statistical methods (p-values and confidence intervals) to ensure the insights we show you are reliable, not just noise.
Why don't I see correlations for some metrics?
Correlate needs enough data points to perform meaningful analysis. If you recently started tracking a metric, or if there's not enough variation in your data, the app may not be able to find statistically significant correlations yet. Keep tracking and check back later.
What is time-lag analysis?
Time-lag analysis looks for delayed effects. For example, a morning workout might affect your sleep that night (same-day lag) or your HRV the next morning (next-day lag). Correlate tests multiple time lags to find the strongest relationships.
Can I export my insights?
Yes, you can share individual insights or export a summary of your top correlations. Look for the share button on any insight card.
